Barra Lodge is probably one of the most popular destinations and one of
the most picturesque sites in Mozambique.
Barra Lodge is half an hour drive away from the airport, in
Inhambane, a drive through coconut plantations to the lodge, which nestles
amongst the coconut trees overlooking the crystal clear, turquoise
tropical waters of the Indian Ocean.
Ocean Safaris:
Using the Scuba Diving boats, we offer an Ocean Safari.
During this trip one is almost guaranteed to see Humpback Whales, Whale
sharks and a possibility of seeing Manta Rays and the elusive Dugong
between the months of June to October.

scuba diving, horse riding, eco-bug safari, sailing, catamaran cruising,
sundowner trips, water skiing. The lodge also offers a bar/lounge,

Visas :
All visitors must have visas for Mozambique. Speak to
your travel agent or consult the nearest Mozambican consulate or embassy.
Currency
:
 The
Metical. But take US$ and ZAR in cash and / or travellers cheques. A few places
accept credit cards.
When to go:
The
area is relatively dry, with an average yearly rainfall of 1000mm. The
rainy season is between November and March and usually occurs as short,
sharp showers. The climate is suitable for all year holidays with summer
being hot and winter being slightly cooler. Temperatures can be up to
30°C in summer and 22°C in winter. Sea Water temperature varies from
23°C to 29°C.
Dec to March
is very hot (tropical climate). April to Nov is much more pleasant.

Health:
Malaria is rife, so taking the appropriate prophylactics is essential. Speak to your
physician or pharmacist as to the best options. Drink only bottled or purified water.
What to pack:
Loose, comfortable, well worn clothing, well worn walking shoes, beach wear,
snorkelling gear if not renting from the lodges, personal medication and toiletries, money
belt, protective wear and gear for the tropical sun and rain.
