This magnificent island is an
untouched treasure and offers a diversity of diving - including wall,
drift and 'muck' diving as well as easy diving access to Sipidan and
Kapalai Islands.

In contrast to Sipadan, is a
continuation of the Borneo land mass
rather than the top of an underwater mountain. Because of this, Mabul has
more gradually sloping walls around it that bottom out at about 30m. The
attractions on Mabul are of the smaller variety such as lobster, crocodile
fish, frogfish, scorpion fish, crocodile fish, moray and garden eels.
This makes it an ideal location for macro-photo opportunities. If you walk
around the east of the island at night, be sure to take a flashlight and
watch for sea snakes on the beach or amongst the palm trees.
Resorts :
The
Sipidan Water Village resort has water
cottages (twin and double beds) built on wooden stilts over the
Celebes Sea. Each has a private sundeck and deck chairs.
All the cottages are installed with ceiling fans, attached
bathrooms with hot and cold showers and tea/coffee making
facilities.
There are also deluxe suite cottages with king-sized bed and
spacious bathroom with shower and bathtub for your comfort.
There is also a fully equipped dive centre offering diving
facilities and dive courses. For dining and entertainment, there is
a superb restaurant, lounge and mini-mart for souvenirs.

Sipadan-Mabul Resort is
located at the southern tip of Pulau Mabul overlooking Sipadan.
Accommodation is made from native materials of Borneo on Twin
Share Basis, unless the Single Supplement is paid. There
are 40 beach chalets (22 are new detached/stand alone beach
chalets ) which could accommodate 80 guests at any one time.
All the chalets have attached toilet with hot shower facilities
and the comfort of air-conditioning which is available for 24
hours.
Electrical outlet is 220 Volt AC. A vinyl swimming pool
measuring 41 ft X 21 ft with a 6 ft deep end. A large dining
hall/bar area is used for meals, socialising, dancing and staff
shows. Coconut drink, carbonated soft drinks, beer and wine can
be purchased at the bar.
A small sundry shop sell a range of T-shirts, films,
batteries, toiletries, souvenirs etc. An office takes care
of the registration and billing; it is equipped with a Mobile
Telephone/Fax for communications with the mainland. Our
60-member staff awaits to make your dive holiday safe, easy and
fun. |
Diving :
Diving services cover all the
dive sites of Mabul, Kapalai, and of course Sipadan Island. They are all
unique in their own marine life - making diving a most pleasurable and
exciting adventure for any divers. The distances to the dive sites from
the resort are merely five min. to thirty min. boat ride.
Mabul and Kapalai Island are probably the most exciting diving places
for macro marine life in the wild. Great for underwater photographers
and divers alike.
Sipadan Island is world renounce for its unsurpassed beauty and amazing
marine life such as turtles, Jacks and barracudas. Unbelievable beauty.
There are three 28 X 7
custom-built fibreglass dive boats; three 60 X 7 custom-built wooden
dive boats; one 30 X 7 half-cabin transport/dive boat and one 32 X 7
half-cabin transport boat.
These dive boats can carry 10 divers each and get to any of the island
dive sites in 15 minutes or less. Each boat goes out three time a
day with a boatman and divemaster. We have a dive boat going to
Sipadan Island twice a day for those who would like to dive there, which
is about 15 minutes away. The UNLIMITED BEACH DIVING mentioned are
beach dives from the jetty of the resort and includes night diving
(without divemaster and boat). Tanks, weights and weight belt are
provided; all other equipment must be brought by the diver or rented.
Most diving is a combination of wall and drift diving. We have three
Bauer Compressors, 180 Aluminium 3000 psi/80 cubic foot tanks with
American style 'K' valves. 25 sets of rental equipment and a 220/110v
charging system for strobes and lights.

Package :
Diving package rate of USD $90 (OUR
“Special” = R 530) per diver is charged per day basis. The package
includes 3 boat dives a day covering Mabul Island, Kapalai and Sipadan
Island with one dive per day at each location, Unlimited Mabul House
Reef diving, weight, weight belt and tanks. Unused portion of the dives
is not refundable and not transferable.
