
Morrungulo is situated 560
km north of Maputo. Massinga is the closest town, approximately 20 kms
away where most basic supplies can be bought. Petrol is available and
telephone calls can be made from the coast office. Vilanculos is about 200
kms further north, where you will find the nearest airport.

MORRUNGULO
HOLIDAY RESORT
The resort is at the end of
a 13 km sand road for which a 4x4 is recommended. The road takes you
through the coconut groves and past many local settlements. Morrungulo is
situated in an unspoiled natural bay amongst thousands of palm trees and
is considered by many as the most picturesque area on the mainland south
of the Bazaruto Islands. The beach stretches for about 50 km leaving
plenty of space for everyone.
Diving :
Morrungulo has a fully comprehensive dive charter operation . This is
one of the better known diving spots in Mozambique after Malongane and
Ponta Do Ouro.
Resort :
Morrungulo has a large
campsite situated 20 m from the beach amongst the palm trees and has
abundant shade as well as fresh drinking water and ablutions. Thatched
baracas with plug points can be hired. These are 4m x 4m shelters ideal
for larger groups as they can be turned into a kitchen or living area.
Casitas which are double storey versions are also available.
The self catering bungalows are a beautiful blend of kiaat reed razor
grass thatched and other local materials. There are self catering sea
facing, two bedrooms bungalows each with a fully equipped kitchen, own
balcony and en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water. Four beds are
supplied but there is room for further two guests in the lounge area,
these guests must supply their own beds and mattresses.
The dive centre is situated separately towards the northern end of
Morrungulo. If offers complete privacy at a lush unspoiled setting. Divers
are accommodated in two bed bungalows or for bigger groups in an eighth
bed dive centre bungalow which is separated which is separated into 4
bedrooms. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen and ablutions with
hot and cold running water.
In all the accommodation at Murrungulo guests must supply their own
towels, linen and toiletries but mosquito nets are provided. No clients
may camp around the chalets unless prior arrangements have been made with
the management.

How to get there :
Maputo is less than an hours flight from
Johannesburg. There are daily flights between the two cities. Or you can drive quite
easily, from South Africa. VISAS: All visitors must have visas for Mozambique. Speak to
your travel agent or consult the nearest Mozambican consulate or embassy.
Currency
:
The Metical. But take US$ and ZAR in cash and / or travellers cheques. A few places
accept credit cards.
When to go:
Dec to March is very hot (tropical climate). April to Nov is much more
pleasant.

Health:
Malaria is rife, so taking the appropriate prophylactics is essential. Speak to your
physician or pharmacist as to the best options. Drink only bottled or purified water.
What to pack:
Loose, comfortable, well worn clothing, well worn walking shoes, beach wear,
snorkelling gear if not renting from the lodges, personal medication and toiletries, money
belt, protective wear and gear for the tropical sun and rain.
