LAND BASED PACKAGE

Accommodation :

MALOLO PLANTATION LODGE is the first land based dive operation to offer Nitrox and technical diving in Papua new Guinea. It is situated on north coast of Papua and boasts a picturesque seaside setting which looks out over the Bismarck sea with the active volcano of Car Karon the horizon. The size allows personalised service and the small touches which really count. Dive and snorkel in some of the most pristine waters of the world or visit a traditional village as part of the extensive tour program. Just under 1 hours drive from Madang, this redeveloped former coconut plantation boasts a relaxed south pacific style with extensive lawns and gardens reaching down to the waterfront. The lodge has 14 air-conditioned rooms, tennis court, dive facilities, restaurant, bar, lounge, fresh water pool and extensive lawns and gardens.

Diving :

Dive Madangs' spectacular reefs, wrecks and coral, home of soldier fish, angelfish and snapper, or take a current dive and swim with the barracuda as they hunt for smaller fish. Black coral trees and gorgonian fans beckon the diver to tarry longer under the sea. The 'Hole in the Wall' offers a protected lagoon for the novice and the entrance to 'Deed's drop off' challenges the more experienced diver. The choice is yours when based at Malolo Plantation Lodge. Also on offer is nitrox and nitrox instruction. Also dive shop and complete dive services - instructor, tanks and weight belts.
    

Boat Dive Examples :

BAGABAG ISLAND
One and a half hours offshore - spectacular drift dives on the outer reefs with many pelagic fish.
MAGIC PASSAGE, PIG PASSAGE, SEK and RASCH PASSAGE
Passages between the barrier reef where the schools of pelagic fish and a wide variety of reef fish can be seen. get corals.
CORAL QUEEN
150ft freighter in 100ft of water. Home of the Photoblepheron (flash light fish)
B-25 MITCHELL BOMBER
Intact WWII Bomber with guns and ammunition. Large barrel sponge and coral growth. In the pilots seat is a cleaner station where shrimp will give you a manicure if you put your hand inside.
HENRY LEITH
115ft Tug/freighter in 60ft water with soft coral growth and lion fish. This is a photographers delight with lots of small critters long nosed hawk fish, pipe-fish and crocodile flat head.

Shore Dives:

USS BOSTON
WWII freighter in 80 - 130 ft water with a medium to strong current. This converted minesweeper, sank in a storm in 1946. It is in a good condition. In the hold you can find filing cabinets and a type writer. The wreck is overgrown with green tree coral. Lots of fish life, barracuda, red bass, coral trout, angel fish, fusiliers etc.
HOLE IN THE WALL
Enter from a lagoon and swim out through an arch to the open ocean. Hard and soft corals, stag horn and finger corals, sponges and reef fish.
DEDO'S DROP OFF
Great slope overgrown with Stag-horn coral with abundant fish life.
TADWAI ISLAND
This is a protected lagoon with pretty coral, great for introductory dive and beginners.
MUGIL
A calm bay with a beautiful island. Reef has fantastic quality coral. Still untouched.

Itinerary :

Day 1      : Meet and assist in Port Moresby, flight to Madang, transfer to Lodge.
Overnight at Lodge
Day 2 -5 : Two tank dives per day, overnight Lodge
Day 6     : Full day at leisure, overnight Lodge
Day 7     : Transfer

Cost :

From R8840 per person sharing (per diver) to be added to international airfare cost.
Includes domestic flights Port Moresby/Madang/Port Moresby, accommodation, meals from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 7, combination of land and boat diving -2 tank dives per day for 4 days, tanks, weights, services if instructor, airport transfers.
Excludes visa costs, laundry services, beverages, personal expenses, personal dive equipment, insurance.

Optional Costs:

Additional two tank dive : R500 per person
Additional night at Lodge : R480 per person
Optional half day tours available - 12 hours notice required.
