NB  -  NB  -  NB!

The Malaysian State Government has announced that effective from 1st January 2005 all Sipadan operators have to move out from the island. The Government will take steps to protect and conserve the island of Sipadan.  However the Government will allow day trippers to dive around the island

As such Pulau Sipadan Resort wishes to inform that effective from 1st January 2005 the resort at Sipadan island will cease operation.

However we wish to inform you that we have Kapalai Resort, which is only 15 mins away from Sipadan by boat.  We will conduct the 2 morning dives around Sipadan and back to Kapalai for lunch.  The 3rd afternoon dive will be a choice of diving around Kapalai or Mabul.

This is YOUR LAST CHANCE to experience this “Jewel” … BOOK NOW!

Pulau Sipidan: off the North Eastern coast of Borneo lies this tiny jewel of an island, with a marine ecosystem so perfect and unique that it is world renowned as arguably, one of the best dive spots in the world. This world renowned island offers a combination of  magnificent wall and drift diving.

Unique, as the only oceanic island in Malaysia, Pulau Sipadan rises as a pristine coral sea mount, 650 meters from the floor of the Sulawesi sea. The ocean teems with a wide range of rare marine species, some of which are totally endemic to the Island. The Island's dense primary jungle remains largely unspoiled by the presence of man, and is populated by the harmless monitor lizard and rare coconut crab.

Diving :

One of the best dive spots in the world !!
Green and Hawksbill turtles are regular inhabitants of the island, coming ashore in season to lay their eggs on the pristine beaches of Sipadan. Swim with shoals of barracuda, parrot fish, clown fish and the spectacular zebra lion fish.
The Pulau Sipadan Resort provides 3 boat dives daily and unlimited beach dives just in front of the resort.
There is a fleet of custom built fiberglass dive boats powered by twin outboard engines to cater for your daily dives. Each boat is manned by a boatman & divemaster. There is an adequate supply of aluminum, 3000 psi/80 cuft tanks fitted with American style 'K' valves and 4 units of Bauer Compressors to provide a smooth supply of tanks. The resort supplies weights and tanks. Other diving equipment is available for rent at reasonable prices.

Accommodation :

In order to preserve the island's fragile ecosystem, traditional huts made from bilian shingle roofs and nibong walls brought to the island from the mainland provide guests with simple and authentic accommodation.
Bungalow accommodation on a Twin Share basis unless a single supplement is paid. The Bungalows are equipped with built in beds & bedding, towels, mosquito nets, ceiling fan, and electrical light with 220v power points. Chalets feature hot showers.
The traditional sundeck and dinning area has been constructed to extend out onto the beach from the shade of the jungle tree line. This provides alternatives for sun worshippers, makes it ideal for tea, meals, drinks, and discussions of the day's dives.
Meals are served in the double story spacious recreation/dinning hall. There is a boundless flow of coffee and tea on the house while carbonated drinks and beer can be purchased at the bar. There is also a small shop which sells a range of T-shirts, films, batteries and toiletries.

Kapalai Dive Resort is in fact a water village. It is built on a sand bar only 15 minutes from Sipadan Island. The sand bar was many years ago the island of Kapalai. It is on what is known as the Ligitan Reefs, a very extensive stretch bordering the deep and vast Celebes Seas. Innovative in concept - a chain of roomy and well-equipped chalets with private bathrooms linked by long wooden walkways, centered around the open restaurant cum sundeck and the customary dive center - the Kapalai Dive Resort has been built on a shallow but surprisingly wide sandbank.

Diving :

The underwater scene is completely different compared to Sipadan. It is a macro-world of great interest, featuring rare subjects ranging from mandarin fish, dragonets, fire gobies, partner & sleeper gobies, wasp or leaf fish, gurnards, the strange "little dragonfish" or seamoth, the tame crocodile fish, giant frogfish of different colors, eels, rays and much, much more.
This is a truly magnificent macro-world where interesting and rare subjects need to be located by the discerning diver, where you can see things others cannot. It is a place where your skills at spotting small and well camouflaged oddities are to be well rewarded. A divers paradise!!!!

Kapalai Resort is only 15 minutes away from Sipadan by boat.  We will conduct the 2 morning dives around Sipadan and back to Kapalai for lunch. The 3rd afternoon dive will be a choice of diving around Kapalai or Mabul.

Accommodation:

Above water, it is a totally different world. All structures are erected on water and the guest is able to really enjoy the serenity and peace of the unique resort anytime of the day, especially early morning and sunset.
Even from above the water, the guest is able to observe the antics of the squids, or the never ending raids of the needlefish and halfbeaks into shoals of silversides and anchovies.
For those who just want to relax and rest between the dives may take advantage of the cleverly thought-out balconies of the bungalows, which offer the total privacy so much sought out by the lovers of sunbathing.

A truly unique place and unforgettable experience. We offer our well-appointed twin sharing chalets with extra-hot baths and western sundeck.

Meals are served in the terraced, open central structure, while a big western sundeck allows divers to have an evening drink or an after-dive chat with a background of fabulous tropical sunsets.
